#GirlsWhoCode

Did you know that in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) workplace only 24% of employees are female (https://www.wisecampaign.org.uk/resources/2017/10/women-in-stem-workforce-2017)?  In STEM management jobs, that falls to only 15%.

At Whyteleafe we always try to do better.  50% of our STEM club members and 62% of our Digital Leaders are girls. In order to keep doing better two Year 5 girls have decided to start a #GirlsWhoCode club.  This is part of a worldwide initiative to try and change these statistics (https://girlswhocode.com).  Based mainly in America at the moment: “Girls Who Code was founded five years ago with the belief that computing skills are a critical path to security and prosperity in today’s job market.”  And we believe that the first step starts at Whyteleafe
