GLF Schools

GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

School Meals

School Meals

Our school meals are served in the Whytelicious cafe and cost £2.70 per day. The government provide free school meals for children in Reception, years 1 & 2 and for those children who qualify for benefit related FSM. (Please see section below)

We are proud of our varied nutritionally balanced menu, which provides 4 options for the main course each day including a vegetarian option. In addition to this there is a salad bar with freshly baked bread available each day and children can help themselves to items they may like to add to their main meal.

If your child has specialist dietary requirements, such as medically diagnosed food allergies / intolerances, please contact the school office to discuss this further. You will need to apply for an allergy safe medical menu for your child which excludes the 14 most common allergens. If this does not cover your child's requirements, a bespoke medical menu designed with a dietician may be able to be provided. For safety, you may need to provide a packed lunch while this application process is being completed.

School meals must ordered at least 7 days in advance via the School Lunch Register on the Parentmail application. Parents should book the school lunches required for their child or provide a packed lunch from home. Payment is required at the time of booking.
Parents select the dates they wish for their child to eat a school lunch. There is no need to choose the meal your child is having as they can choose this themselves on the day.

On occasion we operate themed menus for special days. You will be notified of the menu in advance via Parentmail email and can book in the same way. Please note that on these days, the themed menu is the only menu available, it replaces the main menu for one day and there are no alternate dishes available. If you have any questions, please contact the school office.

Free School Meals and Pupil Premium

We ask that every parent completes the form below to find out if they are entitled to free school meals and pupil premium. If your application is successful, we will contact, you to advise you of this and your child's meals will be registered as free of charge from the date of certification. Until certified, meals are chargeable at a cost of £2.70 per day.

Universal Free School Meals For Early Years and Key Stage 1 Children

Every pupil in reception, year 1 and 2 is eligible for free school meals. In January 2015, new food standards were introduced.  By following these standards, we can be sure that our children will get the nutrition they need across the whole school day.

We believe that the school lunchtime is a great opportunity for all our children to sit down together and enjoy their healthy and tasty meal, while developing their social skills.  We therefore hope that all parents will take up this offer of a free school meal for our infant children.

If you do not wish for your child to eat a school lunch, please provide a packed lunch and let the school office know that this is your choice.
