Long Term Plans
Our long-term plans set out the knowledge, skills and experiences that children will learn throughout the academic year. They ensure that all pupils receive a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum that is carefully sequenced to build knowledge over time and prepare children for future learning.
The long-term plans provide an overview of the curriculum coverage for each year group and subject. They are designed to ensure that key concepts are revisited and built upon, allowing children to develop a deep and secure understanding of what they learn.
Whilst the overall curriculum coverage remains consistent from year to year, we believe that an effective curriculum should also be responsive to the needs, interests and starting points of our pupils. As a result, teachers may adapt, extend or enhance learning opportunities to ensure the curriculum remains relevant, engaging and appropriately challenging for each cohort of children. This flexibility allows us to respond to current events, children's interests and identified learning needs, whilst maintaining the integrity and ambition of our curriculum.
For more detailed information about the specific content being taught each half term, please refer to our Curriculum Maps. These provide a term-by-term overview of the learning taking place across each subject and year group.
This approach ensures that our curriculum is both carefully planned and thoughtfully adapted, enabling every child to achieve their full potential.
