GLF Schools

GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

Nursery

Welcome to our Nursery

Starting in our Nursery is the beginning of an exciting journey through Whyteleafe Primary School! Our Nursery opened in 2020, following increasing demand from existing parents and our local community and offers funded places to children from the age of 3 years old.

We are proud of our caring and nurturing Nursery that can offer you and your child a wonderful start to their learning journey.  Whyteleafe Nursery, Rainbows Class, provides a setting that is safe and secure where all children can access a stimulating indoor and outdoor environment.  We encourage children to develop their skills and independence through play-based learning and interaction.

Our nursery is very well resourced and benefits from a large fenced outdoor area which is partially covered, a smaller covered space as well as a large, open-plan classroom.  Our children are given the freedom to take their learning either inside or outside as we operate a free-flow system between the indoor and outdoor areas, whatever the weather.  We are excited to offer the children the opportunity to take part in our Forest School sessions where they will get the chance to play in puddles, explore muddy areas, climb trees, make keepsakes using tools, build fires, play team games and take part in sensory activities.

The learning environment promotes quality interactions, ignites curiosity and motivation for learning and exposes children to use their independent learning and investigative skills.  Topics and themes are carefully planned to capture the children’s interest and imaginations and our experienced team works hard to ensure the children feel safe, happy and supported.  We strive hard to guide and scaffold your child to become a confident, independent and active learner who is physically and emotionally healthy.

We develop positive relationships with parents through transition arrangements including home/zoom visits and value our parents as partners to ensure the best possible start for your child within our nursery.

Our Nursery year starts in September and runs through until July, this is called an academic year. Nursery is open 8:40am to 3:10pm Monday to Friday during term time, which supports the school day and our school holiday periods are also the same.

We offer fully funded Nursery places with no hidden charges. Parents who can claim the early years funded entitlement can take their funding between the main Nursery opening hours of 8:40am to 3:10pm. If your child is not old enough for funding or does not meet eligibility for the extended entitlement, parents are offered the opportunity to pay for a place at our Nursery. Remember you may also be able to access other financial support towards your childcare costs, such as tax-free childcare.

ALL children are eligible for 15 hours of Nursery funding a week from the term after they turn three, this is called the "universal offer".

Working parents may be eligible for an additional 15 hours a week, an extended entitlement and often called "30 hours funding".
