Science Show
On Wednesday we were very lucky to be visited by some scientists from the University of Bristol. They performed an interactive and engaging science show assembly for all the children in years 2-6. The show taught us about gases in the air and experiments were demonstrated with liquid nitrogen (a very cold liquid), dry ice (solid carbon dioxide), oxygen, acetylene, hydrogen and helium. The show also taught us about states of matter changes, combustion and what is and is not a reversible change.
Children in year 6 were treated to an extra experiment including liquid nitrogen.
“It was mind-blowing to see a balloon blowing up. It was so cool to stand in one of the coldest things on Earth: Liquid Nitrogen!”
-Sophia Gaunt and Holly Rotchell, Year 6
“We thought it was awesome as the experiments were mind blowing. The year 6 exclusive experiment was the best.”
- Krish Patel and Benjamin McGarrigle, Year 6
“I thought the Science Show was amazing. I loved it when the hydrogen balloon exploded like a huge fireball.”
-Poppy Lewis, Year 5
“I learnt that hydrogen was explosive. I thought the assembly was really good because we got to watch some really cool experiments.”
-Emily Weal, Year 5
“The science assembly was absolutely mind blowing! It was so inspiring how Tim and Johnny made the explosions.”
-Abby Morrow, Year 5
“I really liked it because it gave me a lot more knowledge and there was loads more things I didn’t know. I found them really amazing. “
-James Taylor, Year 4
“I knew a lot before but I have learned more. Now it makes me convinced I want to be a science teacher when I’m older.”
-Louise Spencer, Year 4
“I learnt that hydrogen is explosive!”
-Constance Mayo, Year 2
“I couldn’t take my eyes of it, it was so good!”
- Felix Cunningham, Year 2
“It was so cool when the hydrogen exploded”
-Charlie Mann, Year 2
